What is this test?
The SDQ is a widely used screening tool in clinical, school, and counselling settings to assess emotional and behavioral functioning in children and adolescents.
What does it measure?
It evaluates five domains:
- Emotional symptoms (anxiety, fears)
- Conduct problems (rule-breaking, aggression)
- Hyperactivity/inattention
- Peer relationship problems
- Prosocial behavior (strengths)
Who can complete it?
- Parents
- Teachers
- Children (11+ self-report)
Why is it useful?
It helps identify areas where a child may be struggling and areas of strength, guiding further assessment or intervention.
Response scale:
0 = Not True
1 = Somewhat True
2 = Certainly True
